Roy City Parks and Recreation UPDATES

Updates 5/6/20

After a great deal of thought and counsel from our local emergency managers and staff, Roy City’s Mayor, Council and City Manager have provided the following guidance for the Roy City Parks and Recreation Staff. 

In coordination with the state and local public health official’s phased health guidelines and the current public health status transitioning to the “Moderate Risk” (orange) level, the following changes will be implemented, effective May 6, 2020 (Skate parks will open by May 8th).

  • Roy Days-  Postponed till 2021
  • Miss Roy Competition- Information to come. Please follow @missroypageant for updates
  • Summer Movie in the Park Series- Postponed till 2021
  •  
  • FACILITIES
  • Aquatic Center-  Closed 2021 season 
  • Complex- Tentative Reopening – September 8th 2020
  • Splash Pad – Closed
  •  
  • AMMENITIES
  • Bathrooms - Closed – Until Further notice
  •  
  • Playgrounds – Closed – until further notice 
  •  
  • Dog Park- Open- Maintain appropriate social distancing – No more than 20 people on or around the park at one time.
  •  
  • Open Space- Open- Maintain appropriate social distancing – No more than 20 people, no team sports or group activities. Masks are encouraged.
  •  
  •  
  • Roger Phil Burnett Meadow Creek Pond- Open- Maintain appropriate social distancing.
  •  
  • Tennis/Basketball Courts- Open- Maintain appropriate social distancing – No more than 20 people on or around courts at one time. Masks are encouraged.

  • Pickle Ball Courts – Open- Maintain appropriate social distancing – No more than 20 people on or around courts at one time - Masks are encouraged.

  • Skate park- Open – Maintain appropriate social distancing – No more than 20 people on or around Skate Park at one time.  Masks are encouraged. - Note: Fencing will be removed by May 8th.

  • Walking Trails- Open- Maintain appropriate social distancing- don’t congregate in the park or trail heads. Masks are encouraged.

  • Programs
  • Virtual Summer Fest Programs- Open- Registration will begin May 8th. www.royrecreation.com

  • Spring Sports: Baseball, Softball, Coach Pitch, Machine Pitch, T-ball- Cancelled – Refunds are being processed. We have over 500 participants. Participants will receive a refund in the next 1 – 2 months, if not sooner. Please be patient with our staff.

  • Spring Adult Softball- Cancelled

  • Summer Adult Softball- Postponed TBD
  •  
  • Fall Recreation Programs- TBD- as we receive direction from the State and the local health department we will make a decision on these programs at a later date. Follow our social media pages for updates.

  • RESERVATIONS
  • Park/Sporting Field Rentals- Cancelled through July 1 - Refunds will be processed in the next month.
  • ***Not taking future reservation at this time – No close contact and no team sports allowed 

  • Park Bowery Reservations – Cancelled through July 1 – Refunds will be processed in the next month.

  • Aquatic Center Night Reservations- Cancelled- Staff will be contacting renters to discuss refund options in the next 1 – 2 weeks.

  • We sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding. The Parks and Recreation Department is working very hard on possible programming that we can offer during this time that adhere to the guidelines (so we can assure participants safety).
