Welcome to Roy City Recreation

The City offers a variety of team and individual sports throughout the year. There are activities offered for youth in tennis, t-ball, baseball, softball, football, basketball and arts and crafts. The City also offers adult sports. These sports include adult men’s softball, adult co-ed softball and an adult flag football tournament. For dates of registration and activity descriptions please see below.

Summer Activities

Baseball, Softball, T-ball, Summer in the Park, Tennis

Co-Ed T-ball Information
Registration: March 13 thru April 10
Season Will Run: May 4th thru June 11th (tentatively)

Our little league T-Ball program is designed to instruct the players on all aspects of baseball: catching, throwing, base running and hitting. Score will not be kept in any of these leagues. Our goal is to make sure every kid has a positive and fun experience. We are starting the season earlier. Practices and Games will start before school gets out! They will start in May which means registration will be earlier this year (April). So please come in and sign your kids up early! We are letting parents choose what league they want their child to play in. These leagues are for kids 4 years old through 3rd grade. Remember parents will choose the league they want their child to play in and that will be the rules the kid will play by all year.

Softball / Baseball

Registration: April 1st thru May 7th
Season will run: June 3rd thru July 16st

(Baseball will be a draft Format 4th,5th, 6th grade draft workout will be may 18th 5:30pm at Roy West Park.)

Our baseball and softball programs are designed to teach kids basic play of baseball and softball. Teams will play two days a week. They will be instructed on catching, throwing, base running, positioning and hitting. Score will be kept in all grades. At least the top team in each league at the end of the season will advance to the Weber County Tournament. Players may sign up individually or as a team. We have team packets at the recreation office. Players who sign up individually will be assigned according to their school as much as possible. The earlier you register the better the chances that we will be able to fill your personal requests.

Summer in the Park

Registration: TBD

This is a fun summer activity for kids to do all summer long. Kid’s age 6 – 12 years old may sign- up. Kids will participate in arts and crafts, games, water days and field trips. Summer in the Park will meet Monday thru Thursday for three hours each day. Field trip days may be longer then three hours. The field trips may have additional costs. At the end of the summer the kids will participate in the Roy Days parade. The program will start June 12th and end Saturday August 5th at the Roy Days Parade.

Tennis

There will be no Tennis this summer!

Tennis is designed for kid’s ages 8 – 14 years old. Instruction will be once a week for an hour. Participants will be assigned based on age and experience level. Beginning level will teach kids proper grip, stance, backhand, forehand and service. Experienced level will also work on Grip, stance, backhands, forehands, service, conditioning and strategy.

The Roy City Youth Football program is designed to give kids ages 7 -14 an opportunity to participate in football. We are a participant of the Wasatch Front Football League consisting of surrounding cities of Northern Utah. The league sets the regulations. Please note to be completely registered your child will have to have a physical exam, proof of your residency and pay the fee. Please note that the Jr. Mite league is
for kids 7 through 9 years old that have never played before.
Below is the break down of the divisions and weights limits.

Co-Ed and Men’s Softball
Registration: April 1st thru May 7th (Tentatively)

Season Will Run: June 16- July 30th

Roy City Recreation Adult softball is designed for recreational teams. Teams typically will play two nights of double headers depending on how many teams are in the league. Register by team ONLY no individual sign up will be taken. Games will be played at Roy West Park or Roy Park. For registration dates and any other questions please call 774-1048.

Annual Adult Flag Football Tournament
Registration: October 1st thru October 29th (Tentatively)

Will take first 8 teams
Will Be on: Saturday November 7th All Day

Teams are guaranteed two games. The tournament is a one day event that will be played on November, 7th 2009 at North Park and Sand Ridge Park. You can acquire a copy of the rules, regulations and team rosters from the Roy City recreation office or from this web page. Teams must have matching uniforms. It will played 8 on 8. A team can consist of 15 players maximum. Flags will be provided by the Recreation Department.

The basketball program is designed to teach the younger kids the basics and fundamentals of the game and to help the older kids practice and improve their knowledge and skills. Games will be played on Saturdays.
NOTE THE 1ST AND 2ND GRADE GIRLS WILL PLAY IN A CO-ED LEAGUE WITH THE BOYS IN JANUARY. THEY WILL REGISTER DURING THE BOYS BASKETBALL REGISRATION SEE BELOW.

Boy’s Basketball

Will Run: January 9th thru Feburary 27th 2010

The basketball program is designed to teach the younger kids the basics and fundamentals of the game and to help the older kids practice and improve their knowledge and skills. There are three leagues. We combine 1st and 2nd grade Boys and Girls, Boys 3rd – 9th grade and we also provide a High School league. The 1st and 2nd grade league is an instructional co-ed league. They will only participate on Saturdays. This league is designed to teach the players the basics of the game. No score will be kept! We want the kids to obtain a good understanding of basketball in this league and most of all HAVE FUN!!

Fee: 1st and 2nd grade co-ed $40.00
3rd – 9th grade boys $ 50.00
High School League Boys 50.00

Girl’s 1st and 2nd grade Boys 1st – 12th grade

Misc. Activities

Annual Easter Egg Hunt
Will be on: Saturday April 11th, 2009

This is a yearly event that Roy City Sponsors. The hunt will begin at 10:00 am at Sand Ridge Park 2100 W. 4450 So. Candy, toys and eggs will be distributed throughout the park for the kids to find. Come and enjoy the Easter Egg Hunt with us!

The Recreation Department is located at 2626 West 5525 South. Office hours for the summer months are Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Office hours for the fall and winter are Monday thru Friday 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. For additional information please call 774-1048.

Fly Tying and Hunter Safety Classes

Throughout the year, Roy City offers classes in Hunter Safety and in Fly Tying. These classes are seasonal. 801-774-1048 for Dates.

Snow Shoe Rental

Snowshoe rentals are available during the winter months from the Recreation Department. These are Tubbs and Atlas snowshoes and are available to Roy residents for $5.00 per day and non-residents for $9.00 per day.

Snowshoes are available for the entire family, including small children, women, and individuals up to 250 pounds. For information, call us at 774-1048 or come in to the office at 2626 West 5525 South during regular business hours.
