Approval of the canvass of the 2001 Municipal General Election returns

Minutes of the Special Roy City Council Meeting held November 13, 2001, at 6:00 p.m. in the City Manager's Office of the Roy City Municipal Building.

The meeting was a special meeting designated by resolution. Notice of the meeting was provided to The Standard Examiner at least 24 hours in advance. A copy of the agenda was posted.

The following were in attendance:

Councilmember Dave Tafoya


1. APPROVAL OF THE CANVASS OF THE 2001 MUNICIPAL GENERAL ELECTION RETURNS

Chris Davis presented the final election results:


Mayor Votes
Roger Phil Burnett 2,442
Alan Nakayu 1,399

City Councilmember Votes
Cyndi L. Becraft 1,542
Margie B. Becraft 2,370
L. Blaine Hoopes 1,343
Daniel L. Tanner 2,031

Chris Davis stated that the staff went through every polling book, and the judges' disposition of ballots, and compared those findings with the number of ballots counted.

The City Council opened the transfer cases and canvassed the election.

Councilmember Nakayu moved to approve the report of the canvass of the Roy City Municipal Election held November 6, 2001,and declared that Roger Phil Burnett had been re-elected Mayor and Margie B. Becraft and Daniel L. Tanner would fill the two vacant Council positions beginning January 1, 2002. Councilmember Smith seconded the motion. Councilmembers Becraft, Cordova, Nakayu, Smith and Tafoya voted "aye." The motion carried. (Copy filed for record).

The meeting was adjourned at 6:32 p.m.
